This forum is rated DT!-PG.
This forum is rated DT!-PG. DT!-PG means no drug discussions. DT!-PG means no sexually explicit conversations. It also means no threats of violence, real or implied. “I am going to kill my English teacher” is not proper for these forums.
Update: The same goes for all conversations advocating the death penalty, war, and any other act that involves the loss of life. Regardless of the admins’ / moderators’ opinions on any of these things, we don’t want to see them here.
Do not post spoilers.
If you are going to discuss an anime or manga, and are going to talk about something surprising that happens after the opening credits of the first episode, please post a warning in the subject if there will be spoilers and have appropriate spoiler warnings. Spoiler warnings should follow the following format:
-------------
Have you seen episode 18 of MegaKitty DX? I’m so glad that..
***SPOILER WARNING***
the kitty survives.
***END SPOILERS***
------------
Please note the pre- and post warnings, and the shrinking of the spoiler-sensitive text. If you can’t follow these rules, don’t post spoilers. “I really like Kenji’s sword” is not a spoiler. “I really like the way Kenji’s sword kills the Ultimate Demon Lord” is.
Note: Spoiling something is one of the worst rules you can break, and one of those rules people try to wiggle around. Don’t.
Do not spam.
Do not 'advertise'. No links in your first few posts period. Showing off your comic is okay, linking to your fanfic site, and so on - but not if that is the only reason you are posting on this forum. Also, any links that you recieve compensation of any sort ('referer' links, etc.) are expressly forbidden.
Do not support bootlegs / pirated materials.
So please do not post links to them / brag about your illegal collection.
No cursing or profanity.
All but the lightest cursing will be hammered, and 'light curse words' are only allowed when used 'properly'.
Certain words may not be offensive to you, but lots of kids frequent this board, and they aren't going to hear it from here. 'Cursing' is defined as a curse word not used in its original meaning. (For example: if some angel in an anime damns some guy to hell with their Magic Monkey Gun, you can say that. However, you can't use those words as expletives, or unnecessary adjectives.) It isn’t hard to say “I don’t give a darn” or “What the heck” instead of the alternatives.
Generally, stay away from R-rated words (which are generally perverse terms for body parts and sexual acts), and watch out for the rest.
This is another one of those rules that people always try to wiggle around – don’t be those people.
Remember - getting a borderline-curse word hammered doesn't mean you'll be banned, by any stretch of the imagination - getting it hammered and insisting on using it again and again, however, might.
Put at least a little effort into grammar and spelling.
Regarding grammar and spelling: put some effort into it. Don't post a dozen '!!!?1!!?!?' together, don't use huge all caps text, don't go 'u r teh b1ZEsT' when you can type 'you are the best', and make some sort of effort to spell things at least semi-correctly. Use the spell check if you need to.
Use ‘leet’ exceedingly sparingly.
'Leet' speak is considered a low form of rudeness on these forums. Keep it to an absolute minimum, please.
Do not post overly-large images.
Don't post images that are super-huge. If you need a thumbnail, make one, don't just load a huge image into a small space. Also, provide links to images, rather than images themselves, if they are big enough to break table boundaries or require scrolling.
Behave in the forum chat.
The rules for the chat are the same as the rules for the board, with one exception - penalties are much more quickly applied. Be nice - getting booted from the chat by a mod means you will probably be banned from the boards as well. There are a great many trusted forumgoers here, and if enough of them report you, you’ll hear from us. Don't think that just because the chat isn't logged that you won't get into trouble if you break the rules.
Use readable colors in the chat room.
Due to multiple complaints, you may use black, white, and the default color. If you want to use something else, feel free, but if anyone asks you to change it back, do so.
Keep your signature and avatar sizes under control.
Signatures should be no taller than 100 pixels tall (total - this means no 100-pixel images, and then three lines of text - play nice), and not so wide that it breaks the table widths of the forum. As for icon / avatar / sig pics, keep them to no more than 20-25k, give or take. If you want a big image as your avatar, make a thumbnail and use that.
Have contact info.
Make sure you have contact info in your profile, even if it is just having a Hotmail account. If we can't contact you, and there is a problem with a post, we'll either just blanket-edit you or temporarily suspend you until we can. Update: EzBoard Instant messaging doesn't count, as it has proven to be buggy. You don't need contect info, per se, but that means you'll get a temp ban rather than a friendly warning.
Lastly – the rules are here for a reason.
1. The only reason all these rules are here are to keep those people who willfully 'push the limits' of the rules from pushing them farther and farther. Don't be an idiot, and you'll have no problems here. Don't ever be afraid that you will 'slip up' and get kicked out - a ban will only be used on people that willfully break and flaunt rules in the face of the mods and admins.
2. If you think something might be bad to post, ask first. That isn’t too hard to do.
3. The moderators have final say in everything. Free speech is a wonderful thing - but as the forum is, in effect, 'private property', what they say goes.
